In order to protect your web site stats from prying eyes and hackers, you should perform the following steps

  1. Click on 'Make Directory' button on 'Scripts' tab at screen 'Control Panel Home > Site > Website Management > Website Files & Scripts', enter 'awstats' in the 'Directory name' field, awstats directory link should appear.
  2. Click on 'awstats' directory, and click on 'Manage protection' button and after that on 'New Web User' button, enter username and password for the webuser and click on Ok button. After that .htaccess should appear in '/ (Scripts Root Directory) > awstats' directory
  3. please click on .htaccess filename to display file content and copy the content in Clipboard. After that please click on 'Edit' button on 'Control Panel Home > Site > Website Management > Website Settings > Custom Settings' screen and paste the Clipboard content into 'Custom Settings' field with adding as the first line and as the last line and click on Ok button.

After that access to awstats should be allowed only for WebUser created at step ii) and it should be possible to manage webusers through HSPc Control Panel using 'Manage Protection' button on 'Control Panel Home > Site > Website Management > Website Files & Scripts > Scripts > awstats' screen.
