Firebuy Ltd is the Non-Departmental Government Body (NDPB), responsible for specialist procurement within the Fire and Rescue Service. Firebuy Limited’s initial needs were the provision of a robust and reliable platform which would allow Senior Managers to operate the business whilst out in the field and globally, and also allowing them to remain an integral part of the office even when several hundred miles away from it. FidoNet beat stiff competition from a number of considerably larger competitors to win this prestigious contract; based upon the technical merits of the solutions and not principally on the price. In close consultation, FidoNet identified the needs for a unified messaging service and distributed working environments, and were successful in winning the contract to supply services to the National Procurement Division (FireBuy). Firebuy Limited has purchased the following services from FidoNet since 2005: 1. the provision of server management, 2. the provision of an IT infrastructure to support remote working facilities, and 3. the provision of mobile / data access solutions. To date FidoNet has responded to all of our customer requirements in a flexible and helpful manner. Since the engagement by Firebuy Limited, FidoNet has developed an integrated electronic communication system and has provided Firebuy Limited with a service that has been maintained 24 hrs a day, 7 days a week to ensure continuous operability of the system.
