FireBrick 2700Fed up of slow Broadband speeds?  Too far from the local Telephone Exchange, and “never” going to get FTTC?
There is still hope!

FidoNet’s FireBrick technology comes to the rescue!  Connect multiple Fido Broadband lines together and enable our unique Bonding technology to combine both upload and download speeds to give you a faster internet experience!

The FireBrick is more than just a simple Broadband bonding box, with a powerful firewall, support for IPv6 out of the box, packet prioritisation to boost VoIP performance, broadband bonding of both upstream and downstream channels, and more.

Why not just MLPPP?  Well MLPPP is designed for connections which are on matched speed links, not variable speed links as with Broadband.  MLPPP works well on ISDN because you can guarantee the channel speed on each ISDN channel (they’re all 64k/sec).  With Broadband you can have one channel of 1Mbit and another of 800K/sec – this causes a high number of collisions and retransmits with MLPPP and actually slows down the line.

The FireBrick uses intelligent packet reordering and prioritisation technology to ensure fast, reliable, multi-channel bonding.

Priced from £650 for a fully loaded FireBrick (FB2500) capable of routing up to 100Mbit/sec of data, these are competitively priced and powerful devices.

Bonding costs just £20 per month in addition to the standard Broadband service charge.
